3D Lightning Positioning Vertical Observation System
The three-dimensional lightning location and observation system (ENTLS for short, all-flash detection system for short) produced by Earth Networks in the United States is currently the most advanced detection system in the world to detect the intensity, direction, frequency and changes of lightning. Composed of multiple lightning probes, the Total Flash Detection System is a meteorological measurement instrument designed and built on a compact unit utilizing state-of-the-art electronics and components to track and measure ground-to-ground (CG) lightning in the atmosphere and Cloud Flash (IC). The probe of the all-flash detection system is a broadband system with detection frequencies ranging from 1Hz to 12MHz. When lightning occurs in the atmosphere, electromagnetic waves are generated and detected by the device. The wide frequency range allows the probe to detect not only strong ground-to-ground (CG) lightning strikes, but also weak cloud-flash (IC) pulses. The probe can record the entire waveform of each lightning, and then send it back to the central server in the form of compressed data packets, so as to complete the monitoring task of lightning.

The sites include 8 sites in Beijing and 2 sites in Tianjin. The stations are located in: Pinggu, Shangdianzi, Tanghekou, Foyeding, Dongmenying, Changping, Zhangfang, Zhaitang, Baodi and Wuqing.
